The microphone element is cardioid by design. However, a hemicardioide polar pattern is produced when associated with a flat surface such as a table, floor, wall or podium. The impressive design of the M60 brass housing is achieved through a complex process using a computer machining center. The bottom of the housing is treated with a shock-absorbing material for damping and has two threaded holes that allow the M60 condenser microphone to be permanently fixed in position if desired. A high quality 25' shielded microphone cable is connected directly to the M60's internal circuit, with the possibility of exiting the housing at 180 or 90 degrees, depending on whether the cable is routed through a perforated surface. Additionally, two types of connectors are available: XLRm or Phoenix. Available in satin nickel, black or white finish, the M60 operates on phantom power from 18 to 52 V.
