The most common uses for this product are as nearfield monitors in project\/home studios, workstations, control rooms, broadcast, TV and mobile facilities. The ISS (Intelligent Signal Sensing) function reduces the system's power consumption to less than 0.5 watts by automatically putting the monitor in standby when no signal is detected on the inputs for a certain period of time. As soon as an audio input signal is detected, the system is instantly reactivated. This ISS function complies with the new EU regulations and the ErP 2013 Directive, which regulates the power consumption of electronic equipment. The reflex port has been designed to provide clear and defined bass, without distortion, compression or noise. The combination of the Genelec Directivity Control Waveguide™ (DCW™), rounded corners and the subtle curvature of both the front and the cabinet, MDE™ (Minimum Diffraction Enclosure™), results in a surprisingly flat frequency response both on-axis and off-axis. Another great advantage is extremely precise and detailed imaging and minimal listening fatigue. A sophisticated crossover filter system processes the signal that is sent to the amplifiers: each very low-distortion loudspeaker has a dedicated amplifier. The 8040B comes standard with magnetic shielding, overload protection circuitry and a versatile environmental correction system. The holes on the back allow for proper and secure wall mounting. Each 8040B is equipped with Iso-Pod™ (Isolation Positioner\/Decoupler™), a stand capable of eliminating any sound colorations by decoupling the monitor from the surface on which it is placed. Iso-Pod™ also allows the monitor to be angled in order to perfectly aim it on-axis towards the listener.
