Traditional shielding systems typically absorb and then drain noise\/RF energy to the component's ground, modulating and distorting the critical \"reference\" ground plane, which in turn causes signal distortion. Noise-Dissipation \"shields the shield,\" absorbing and reflecting most of this noise\/RF energy before it reaches the layer attached to ground.\u003cbr\u003eThe AUDIOQUEST GREYHOUND features cold-welded, gold-plated terminations that allow for a solder-free connection, which is a common source of distortion. Instead of solder, the process employs a high-pressure technique. Since the rectified shells are stamped rather than machined, the metal used can be chosen for low distortion rather than machinability.\u003cbr\u003eThe AUDIOQUEST GREYHOUND features 0.5% solid silver conductors that eliminate wire interaction distortion. Solid silver-plated conductors are excellent for very high-frequency applications. These signals, being such a high frequency, travel almost exclusively on the conductor's surface. Since the surface is made of high-purity silver, performance is very similar to a solid silver cable, but the price is much closer to a solid copper cable. This is an incredibly cost-effective way to produce the highest quality subwoofer cables.\u003cbr\u003eAny solid material adjacent to a conductor is actually part of an imperfect circuit. Cable insulation and printed circuit board materials all absorb energy. Some of this energy is stored and then released as distortion.
