The coupling and bypass capacitors are of the highest quality, resulting in deep, precise bass, and delicate, transparent highs.
The active semiconductor cooling and the external cooling system used in the GOLDEN AGE PREMIERE GA-8000 ensure the best possible signal-to-noise ratio. The tube (a 6AU6) is mounted in an aluminum casing, with the semiconductor cooling chip attached to the bottom of the case. When the microphone is in use, the heat generated by the tube is actively dissipated, and the temperature is kept low. The heat is transferred to the back of the semiconductor and then to the effective external aluminum alloy heatsink located behind the microphone.
The capsule of the GOLDEN AGE PREMIERE GA-8000, manufactured by a specialized company with over twenty years of experience in building microphone capsules, has a modern sound character and can handle a high sound pressure level.
To ensure a long lifespan for the tube, a NOS CIFTE 6AU6 (from France) was used with a maximum anode voltage of approximately 300V. In this circuit, the tube operates with an anode voltage of 90V and generates more heat than in many other tube microphones that typically use voltages between 35 and 50V. The higher voltage used in the GOLDEN AGE PREMIERE GA-8000 requires greater heat dissipation, so the active semiconductor cooling system is an important element.
The GOLDEN AGE PREMIERE GA-8000 uses a modern power supply with solid-state rectifiers and a stabilization circuit for the high-voltage line based on FETs.
After many listening tests, comparing a tube rectifier circuit with a solid-state one, the sound of the latter was preferred. The additional advantage is that there is no need to worry about replacing tubes in the power supply.
The metal film resistors and the electrolytic capacitor from Japan are special audiophile grade. The coupling capacitors are Siemens EPCOS from Germany. The conductors inside the GOLDEN AGE PREMIERE GA-8000, from Japan, are oxygen-free copper. The solder is FELDER type containing silver/copper from Germany.
The shockmount supplied with the microphone is a Rycote USM-VB.

Specifications

Microphone type: Tube condenser

Polar pattern: Cardioid, omni

Large-diaphragm capsule

Frequency response: 20Hz-20kHz

Maximum SPL: 137dB (cardioid), 140dB (omni)

Output impedance: 100 ohm

Sensitivity: -33dB/Pa

Signal-to-noise ratio: 76dB

Self Noise: 18dB (A-weighted)

Tube: 6AU6

Color: Black
