What distinguishes this pedal, however, is the way the audio is reproduced. In a delay, there is a predetermined time interval between recording and signal playback; Textures™, on the other hand, divides the audio into smaller segments, called Grains, and plays them individually. Each Grain has a start position within the recording and a size, which determines its playback duration. The Grain size can be thought of as a read window: increasing it includes a larger portion of the recorded audio. A small size produces short, fragmented sound impulses, while a larger size allows entire musical passages several seconds long to be played back. Grains can also be overlapped. Without overlap, only one Grain is played at a time.
