The TN-4D-SE features an elegant brushless DC motor, which offers quartz-locked speed accuracy, regulated by a computer-controlled feedback circuit and achieves low wow-and-flutter levels for a direct drive turntable, especially one with such an elegant and low-profile design.
In collaboration with SAEC Corporation, a world-renowned high-end tonearm manufacturer, the TN-4D-SE tonearm utilizes a knife-edge bearing pivot point. Unlike the case with conventional bearing tonearms, any subtle vertical movement encountered by this tonearm actually helps provide more dynamic sound with excellent resolution. The S-shaped tonearm also uses a universal cartridge mount, allowing users to quickly and easily swap cartridges/headshells and supports a wide range of cartridge weights (14 to 23 g).
The TN-4D-SE comes equipped with a renowned SUMIKO Oyster MM cartridge, a famous American cartridge manufacturer. Regardless of music type, the Oyster cartridge delivers powerful yet inviting listening performance.
The TN-4D-SE is equipped with a built-in PHONO EQ amplifier that allows direct connection of the turntable to the line-level inputs of existing Hi-Fi systems. The NJM8080 IC from New Japan Radio Corporation is used for operational amplifier functions, bringing the level of small signals received through the cartridge up to LINE level power without any loss of quality.
Together with the newly conceived motor, the high-inertia die-cast aluminum platter helps achieve better speed stability.
The isolating feet comprise a machined aluminum shell topped with a rubber pad fixed to a high-density MDF foot. Thanks to their excellent shock absorption characteristics, the TN-4D-SE is highly resistant to acoustic feedback.
The TN-4D-SE supports 33⅓ and 45 rpm for LP and EP records. Our insistence on quality engineering can also be seen in the construction of the rotary control for start/speed selection, made from machined aluminum.
