ADAM Audio Sub12 is an active studio subwoofer for nearfield and midfield systems, music production, mixing, post-production, and multi-channel configurations, featuring a 12” long-excursion woofer, 200 W RMS/300 W Music PWM amplification, a frequency response from 22Hz to 150Hz, a maximum SPL of at least 115dB at 1 meter, a down-firing bass reflex design, an adjustable 50-150Hz crossover, an 85Hz satellite filter, 0°/180° phase switching, XLR/RCA inputs and outputs, and a Sub Out for daisy-chaining multiple subwoofers.
22 Hz to truly extend nearfield and midfield systems
The ADAM Audio Sub12 is designed to extend the response of nearfield and midfield monitoring systems downward. The 12" woofer with paper cone and 2" voice coil is driven by a 200 W RMS / 300 W Music PWM amplifier and reaches 22 Hz, providing a more complete reference for evaluating the lower octave.
Long-excursion woofer and efficient amplification
The transducer is optimized for extended cone travel and uses a robust voice coil, while the PWM amplifier operates with high efficiency to sustain demanding passages without generating excessive heat. The combination of driver, cabinet, and amplification allows the Sub12 to reach at least 115 dB peak SPL at 1 meter.
Down-firing bass reflex to reduce port noise
The bass reflex cabinet features a large downward-facing port. The geometry and dimensions of the tube are designed to limit reflex ventilation noise when the subwoofer operates at high levels, keeping low-frequency reproduction cleaner and less localizable.
Crossover, phase, and 85 Hz filter for monitors
The subwoofer's low-pass filter is adjustable between 50 and 150 Hz, allowing the crossover point to be matched to the monitors and the room's response. The 0°/180° phase switch helps to acoustically align the sub and satellites, while the dedicated filter for the monitors can be left flat or set as an 85 Hz high-pass.
XLR/RCA and Sub Out for expandable systems
The Sub12 offers balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA stereo inputs and outputs. The balanced Sub Out replicates the signal and allows for daisy-chaining multiple subwoofers; a useful solution when you want to increase coverage or distribute low-frequency sources to better manage room modes.
A subwoofer for studio, post-production, and multi-channel systems
Thanks to the 22-150 Hz response, the 85 Hz filter, and the ability to adjust level, crossover, and phase, the Sub12 can be integrated into professional stereo and multi-channel systems. The "Signal On" setting also allows for automatic activation upon signal detection and standby after approximately 15 minutes of inactivity.
Who is it for and when to choose it
The Sub12 is suitable for those who need true extension down to 22Hz in nearfield or midfield systems, maintaining a setup oriented toward precision rather than just sound pressure. The Sub Out also makes it possible to build systems with multiple units to improve response uniformity in complex environments.
