The AEA R84A is an active ribbon microphone with an extraordinarily extended frequency range, complete with powerful highs and explosive lows.
The AEA R84A's balanced and manageable proximity effect reinforces the low end of vocals, drums, and brass instruments, from just a few feet away. The AEA R84A is a versatile, lightweight, and easy-to-handle ribbon microphone suitable for both close-range and ambient miking applications.
The AEA R84A maintains the same sonic character as the R84 but offers an additional 12dB of output and a stable impedance, allowing flexibility when recording quiet sources through any preamplifier. This provides a consistent frequency response and greater flexibility with different preamplifiers, including those found in computer audio interfaces. This is great for musicians on-the-road who might need to use a different preamplifier every night. The active circuitry of the AEA R84A requires standard 48-volt phantom power to operate. The AEA R84A also features an 18-karat gold-plated grille.
