The AEA R88 MKII is a stereo ribbon microphone with a wide frequency response and balanced low end that make it extraordinarily effective when capturing the breadth of sound from the back of a room or above a drum kit.
Alongside the mono AEA R88 MKII, it boasts the widest frequency range of any microphone in the AEA range and effortlessly handles more complex audio sources such as drums, strings, piano, and other instruments that produce complex transients, sharper highs, and mellow lows. The Blumlein configuration of the ribbons allows for a wide prospective range, so an entire ensemble and the room can be captured by the AEA R88 MKII alone.
