Powered Nearfield Monitor
The ALESIS M1 ACTIVE MK3 is a powered nearfield monitor that aims to establish itself as an affordable listening system for home and project studios, thanks to a frequency response from 45Hz to 22kHz and Class A/B bi-amplification, which provides 40W to the lows and 25W to the highs. For the transducers, in addition to the 1” silk dome tweeter, Alesis has chosen a 5” aluminum woofer, which is lighter and stiffer than traditional carbon fiber or aramid ones, capable of a faster transient response and able to provide a linear frequency response in the crucial mid-low range for EDM, Techno, House, and Hip-Hop music producers. The tweeter is located within a waveguide specifically designed by Alesis engineers to ensure better high-frequency dispersion and prevent random scattering outside the sweet spot. The chamfered edges of the cabinet, made of MDF and painted with an elegant metallic black finish, prevent possible artifacts resulting from angular diffraction.
The two bass reflex ports on the front panel optimize low-end extension and allow these monitors to be used close to walls, making them perfect for home and bedroom studios, or as an additional small nearfield listening solution in recording studios or mobile broadcast setups. Regarding connections, the ALESIS M1 ACTIVE MK3 is equipped with a combo input located on the rear of the cabinet, which can accommodate balanced XLR or ¼” (TS or TRS) jack connectors. A rotary potentiometer for volume control is available near the input. The ALESIS M1 ACTIVE MK3 is designed for vertical placement, and the focal point to be aligned at the listener's ear height is located in the center between the woofer and the tweeter.
