ALLEN & HEATH XONE:PX5 is a DJ mixer born from the union of the XONE series' distinctive analog sound with digital connectivity, two essential elements today to provide DJs with a professional tool suitable for modern performances. The integrated USB2 audio interface is Traktor Scratch certified.
The XONE:FX DSP effects processor integrated into the ALLEN & HEATH XONE:PX5 has been specifically programmed for DJ sets and provides a selection of algorithms such as delays, reverbs, flangers, distortions, and various modulation effects, collectively called the Xone:Xcite FX suite.
ALLEN & HEATH XONE:PX5 is a 5-channel mixer. The 4 main input channels, all equipped with a three-stage Phono/USB/Line switch, feature 60mm VCA faders and 12-segment LED meters; the additional channel, called "A", is switchable between Mic/Aux/USB and has an LED peak indicator and a stereo line input on ¼" jack connectors capable of accommodating even monaural synthesizers or drum machines (L/M connector). All five channels are equipped with gain, a 3-band equalizer (with total kill), and can be assigned to cue, the filter, and one side of the crossfader (x-fader) using the appropriate selectors.
The crossfader of the ALLEN & HEATH XONE:PX5 is configurable in three different cut modes to adapt to your performance needs, can be quickly replaced by the user without voiding the warranty, and is compatible with the optional Innofader Pro 2 (NOT included). On each channel, there is a dedicated potentiometer (Send) for sending the signal to external effects processors and/or the integrated Xone:FX effects processor. The connectivity dedicated to external signal processors is extremely versatile, featuring stereo SEND and RETURN connections, which can be configured in Hi-Z mode for use with old vintage effects or guitar pedals, and stereo INSERT on the Master. In addition to the "Send" potentiometer, each channel has a 3-stage switch settable to Internal, DUAL, or External for selecting the effects processor to be used: from the integrated XONE:FX to the external one connected in Send/Return, or a combination of both (DUAL) where the return signal of the first passes through the second to create more complex and particular effect combinations.
The XONE VCF filter is indispensable, a multi-mode analog filter (low-pass, band-pass, high-pass) with cutoff and resonance controls, assignable to each individual channel and to the return of any external effects processor. Thanks to the integrated USB 2.0 audio interface, with 24bit/96kHz A/D-D/A converters, we can add 10 inputs and as many outputs (5 in/5 out stereo) to our PC or Mac computer (class compliant); this will allow us to use the mixer in a hybrid way, combining traditional equipment such as turntables and CD or MP3 players in the same DJ set with mixing software like Traktor or Virtual DJ configured in "external mixer" mode, or with software designed for live performances like Ableton Live, Bitwig Studio, etc.
ALLEN & HEATH XONE:PX5 is a Traktor Scratch Certified mixer (version 2.11 and later) that allows the use of Traktor Scratch Control Vinyl timecode records to physically control tracks loaded into the software's decks, and the configuration of audio inputs and outputs will be automatic. The X:LINK connection, a native protocol developed by Allen & Heath itself, will allow direct connection of XONE "K" series MIDI controllers to the ALLEN & HEATH XONE:PX5, which, in addition to being powered by this bus, will transmit the generated MIDI messages to the computer without occupying an additional USB port. An exclusive strength of the ALLEN & HEATH XONE:PX5 is the Xone:Sync MIDI Clock Engine, a system for calculating, generating, and controlling the MIDI Clock message that can be transmitted via USB and through the traditional MIDI Sync/OUT DIN connector. You can interact with the generated MIDI Clock message using the play, stop, pause buttons, with TAP Tempo for manual setting, or with synchronization of the message based on automatic BPM calculation, as well as intervene on the compensation of any MIDI Clock signal fluctuations using the bend + and - buttons.
ALLEN & HEATH XONE:PX5 is also enabled to receive MIDI Clock messages via USB. This extensive management of the MIDI Clock signal along with the Line input on channel "A" capable of accommodating even mono sources (L/M connector) make the XONE:PX5 a perfect ally for all DJs who use synthesizers and drum machines in their performances.
