The ALTO PROFESSIONAL LIVE 1604 is a 12-channel mixer equipped with new low-noise, high-headroom preamps called DNA™. These preamps are integrated into an optimized signal path to preserve sound quality. Good headroom results in cleaner mixes by reducing signal distortion, leading to a substantially more powerful sound, faithful to the input. The first 6 microphone channels are equipped with a special compressor that operates on individual channel strips through the combined control of multiple parameters via a single rotary potentiometer. Another plus is the integrated multi-effect designed by Alesis. This is a 24-bit signal processor with 100 DSP effects from which the user can select the one applicable via send to the mixer's various channels. The effects include various reverb, delay, flanger, chorus, tremolo algorithms, etc., also available as effect combinations (delay/reverb, for example) or pre-set for specific applications (Vocal).
The ALTO PROFESSIONAL LIVE 1604 has 12 channels, 8 of which are mono with XLR microphone and Line inputs (¼” Jack) that include an insert connection for external signal processors or multi-effects, in addition to an integrated individual compressor only on the first 6. Two stereo channels (9/10 and 11/12) with 1/4” Jack inputs (L and R) can also be used as additional mono mic channels due to the presence of the XLR microphone connector. It concludes with two other channels (13/14 and 15/16) equipped only with L/R ¼” Jack inputs. Each channel's channel strip provides, in addition to the 6cm fader: gain control, high-pass switch (only where an XLR input is present), 3-band equalizer with sweepable mids on mono channels and 4 bands (bass, low-mids, high-mids, and treble) on stereo channels, pan, and four sends dedicated to auxiliary outputs (Aux Send) and the integrated multi-effect, and mute and solo buttons. On the first 6 channels, there is a rotary control for applying the compressor. For all sends, to the right of the mixer, there is a corresponding rotary potentiometer for return control. The mixer provides 4 sub-groups (BUS).
The ALTO PROFESSIONAL LIVE 1604 is distinguished by the presence of a USB port that functions as a class-compliant audio interface for connecting to Windows PC and Apple MacOS computers and is useful for recording to/playing from the computer a 24-bit stereo audio channel (2 In/2 Out mono). Thanks to two selectors on the back, you can decide whether to send the signal reproduced from the Main Mix output or the Sub Mix ½ output of the mixer to the computer via USB, as well as route the computer's output, i.e., the signal played by the software on the computer and sent via USB to the mixer, directly to the Master channel, or to a channel (15/16 in the 1604 model, 23/24 in the 2404) where it can be processed like any other source.
