The ALTO PROFESSIONAL LIVE 2404 is a 20-channel mixer equipped with new low-noise, high-headroom preamplifiers called DNA™. These preamps are integrated into an optimized signal path to preserve sound quality. Good headroom results in cleaner mixes, thanks to reduced signal distortion, for a substantially more powerful sound that remains true to the input. The first 8 microphone channels are equipped with a special compressor that operates on individual channel strips through the combined control of multiple parameters via a single rotary potentiometer. Another plus is the integrated multi-effect designed by Alesis. This is a 24-bit signal processor with 100 DSP effects available, from which the user can select the one applicable via send to the various mixer channels. The effects include various reverb, delay, flanger, chorus, tremolo algorithms, etc., also available as combinations of effects (delay/reverb, for example) or pre-set for specific applications (Vocal).
The ALTO PROFESSIONAL LIVE 2404 has 20 channels, including 16 mono with XLR microphone inputs and Line (1/4" Jack) inputs, which feature an insert connection for external signal processors or multi-effects, as well as an integrated individual compressor on only the first eight. 2 stereo channels (17/18 and 19/20) with 1/4" Jack (L and R) inputs can potentially be used as additional mono mic channels due to the presence of an XLR microphone connector. The substantial number of ALTO PROFESSIONAL LIVE 2404 channels concludes with two other stereo channels (21/22 and 23/24) equipped only with L/R 1/4" Jack inputs. The channel strip of each channel provides, in addition to the 6cm fader: gain control, high-pass switch (only where an XLR input is present), 3-band equalizer with sweepable mids on mono channels and 4 bands (low, low-mid, high-mid, and high) on stereo channels, pan, the four sends dedicated to the auxiliary outputs (Aux Send) and the integrated multi-effect, and mute and solo buttons. On the first 8 channels, there is a rotary control for compressor application. For all sends, to the right of the mixer, there is a respective rotary potentiometer for return control. The mixer provides 4 sub-groups (BUS).
The ALTO PROFESSIONAL LIVE 2404 is distinguished by the presence of a USB port that acts as a class-compliant audio interface for connection to Windows PCs and Apple MacOS computers, useful for recording to/playing back from the computer a 24-bit stereo audio channel (2 In/2 Out mono). Thanks to two selectors on the back, you can decide whether to send the signal reproduced from the Main Mix output or the Sub Mix ½ output of the mixer via USB to the computer, as well as route the computer's output—that is, the signal reproduced by the software on the computer and sent via USB to the mixer—directly to the Master channel, or to a channel (15/16 in the 1604 model, 23/24 in the 2404) where it can be processed like any other source.
