Analog-Audio Interconnect Cable
AUDIOQUEST BIG SUR is an analog-audio interconnect cable that features better metals and more sophisticated technologies, including air-tube insulation, dielectric-bias system, and noise-dissipation system.
All Bridges & Falls series cables place left and right channels in a single jacket and feature an asymmetrical double-balanced geometry with high-quality separate positive and negative conductors. This design allows for a thin, flexible, and versatile high-performance cable that can be terminated with a variety of today's connections, including 3.5mm (male or female), DIN, and RCA.
Designed for single-ended applications, the asymmetrical double-balanced geometry provides relatively lower ground impedance for a richer and more dynamic experience. While many single-ended cable designs use a single path for both grounding and shielding, double-balanced designs separate the two for cleaner, quieter performance.
To prevent captured radio-frequency interference (RFI) from modulating the equipment's ground reference, AQ's noise dissipation is necessary. Traditional shielding systems typically absorb and then drain noise/RF energy to the component's ground, modulating and distorting the critical "reference" ground plane, which in turn causes signal distortion. Noise dissipation "shields the shield," absorbing and reflecting most of this noise/RF energy before it reaches the ground-attached layer.
The connector design allows for a solderless connection, which is a common source of distortion. Instead of solder, the process employs a high-pressure technique. Since the rectified shells are stamped rather than machined, the metal used can be chosen for low distortion rather than workability.
AUDIOQUEST BIG SUR features solid perfect-surface copper+ (psc+) conductors that prevent electrical and magnetic strand interaction. PSC+ Solid-Copper minimizes distortion caused by grain boundaries and maximizes linear RF noise dissipation.
