AVANTONE CLA-10 is a pair of 10" passive monitors designed in collaboration with Chris Lord Alge, and they are a faithful modern reproduction of the most iconic studio monitor of the last 30 years. Enormous attention has been paid to ensuring that the performance matches that of the original model.
AVANTONE CLA-10 monitors are made of MDF with a real wood veneer. We changed the rear terminal plate to use a better quality connector. The crossover network uses the same capacitors in terms of electrical values, only a better grade in terms of quality. The inductors exactly match the original in DC resistance, size, and winding value.
The AV10-MHF tweeter dome went through a difficult engineering process to achieve the exact phenolic resin solution so that it matches the original performance curve. It is manufactured in-house to ensure the exact consistency of each production batch. The AV10-MLF woofer uses custom mechanical parts that recreate the original. The AV10-MLF woofer cone is manufactured to match the original. The main difference is that a pressed cone was chosen instead of a lapped one. This allows for more precise control over stiffness and weight. All tests have revealed no differences or tonal responses between this version and the original.
