BLACK LION AUDIO B173 500 is a 500 series 1073-style microphone preamplifier identical to the original B173. Not a single component or design feature was compromised during the conversion to a smaller package. As a result, the circuit boards are packed with all kinds of delightful components, including a robust Cinemag input transformer! The power supply is the backbone of any preamplifier design and can have a huge impact on the overall sound and performance of the preamplifier. The +24V rail needed to power the BLACK LION AUDIO B173 500 is carefully converted from the +/- 16V rails of a 500 series rack using a custom DC-DC converter circuit specifically designed to avoid any unwanted noise or modulation from the signal path. Complete isolation is then achieved through the use of inductors, ferrite beads, decoupling capacitors, power regulation, and a custom enclosure surrounding the entire circuit. The BLACK LION AUDIO B173 500's discrete "Class A" circuitry combined with high-end components offers a new approach to a classic sound that will not disappoint!
