It features ultra-low jitter, third-order oscillators with a high-current parallel drive circuit designed to maintain the harmonic content of the signal regardless of load conditions. In addition, proprietary noise reduction circuits radically eliminate unwanted switching harmonics normally present in digital signals. The BLACK LION AUDIO MICRO CLOCK MKII is currently one of the best external word clocks on the professional audio market. The reasoning behind this is that a device that is externally synced simply filters the incoming clock signal through its phase-locked loop, thereby eliminating any benefits associated with a superior clock. Furthermore, the simple act of accepting the input signal and creating a new in-phase signal will add some jitter. The BLACK LION AUDIO MICRO CLOCK MKII outputs a high-bandwidth signal that is rare in internal clocks. Whether an external word clock can improve the sound quality of a receiving device depends on how the receiving device accepts an external word clock signal and depends on the quality of the receiving device's internal clock. The BLACK LION AUDIO MICRO CLOCK MKII is housed in a robust 3" x 4" chassis that offers optimal RF shielding. It features six selectable output frequencies from 44.1 kHz to 192 kHz. The output level is approximately 5 volts peak-to-peak. Jitter on the crystal oscillator is approximately 1 picosecond RMS and just under 10 picoseconds RMS at the output. The 9-volt DC power supply can accept both 120 and 240 volts AC. The clock is compatible with all modern digital devices equipped with 75-ohm BNC word clock inputs.
