The Braingasm Magnitube is a multipattern large-diaphragm tube microphone with unique characteristics, designed to meet every studio recording application, and is particularly suitable for recording vocals and acoustic instruments.
The implementation of an unprecedented tube circuit in microphone applications and a proprietary capsule design, combined with tone, harmonic distortion, and output impedance controls, expands the horizons of studio recording with countless possibilities.
The hexagonal pattern grille ensures the highest ratio between open surface and structural integrity, guaranteeing minimal phase interference caused by internal reflections within the capsule housing.
A double triode of Russian manufacture in an unprecedented configuration will
allow you to choose the most suitable sound for the source to be recorded.
The T.H.D. control allows you to vary the percentage and type of harmonics of the tube circuit, transforming Magnitube from an ultra-linear microphone to a very colored transducer, gradually passing through all intermediate nuances.
The sibilance control allows you to engage a quick de-esser
directly during vocal tracking, and helps to soften the
annoying components of wind and acoustic string instruments.
Magnitube is equipped with a large-diaphragm, side-terminated capsule with a proprietary design, featuring two 26mm gold-sputtered diaphragms, and a special tensioning designed to minimize annoying mid-high band emphases typical of this architecture.
The variable output impedance is achieved through a multi-tap Sowter transformer, commonly used as a mic input in Neve preamplifiers. Magnitube's unique circuit architecture allows this transformer to be used in cascade with the tube, providing additional control over levels and tone shaping.
The 50-ohm tap allows interfacing with vintage consoles and preamplifiers without any alteration due to mismatch. It is also useful for achieving a 6dB output attenuation without altering the amplifier's behavior.
