Il cavo celexon DisplayPort è conforme alla versione 1.2 e trasmette segnali fino a 21,6 Gbps con risoluzioni fino a 4K (4096 x 2160p 60 con profondità colore 10 bit). Grazie al sottocampionamento della crominanza 4:4:4, tutte le informazioni relative alla luminosità e all'immagine vengono trasmesse in maniera ottimale.
La modalità multi stream transport (MST) consente la gestione di più monitor tramite l'interfaccia DisplayPort del PC. Per utilizzare questa funzione ci sono due diverse modalità: tramite Daisy-Chain (come una catena) è possibile l'accensione in sequenza di più monitor oppure i monitor vengono collegati tramite un Hub MST DisplayPort aggiuntivo.
Il numero di display collegabili tramite MST dipende dalla risoluzione dei singoli display; ad esempio è possibile collegare 4 display con una risoluzione Full HD (1920 x 1080p 60).
I display collegati tramite Daisy-Chain, ad eccezione dell'ultimo display della catena, devono disporre di un ricevitore e trasmettitore DisplayPort, in modo tale da poter inviare e ricevere lo streaming video indirizzato al display stesso e agli altri componenti della catena. Non appena il monitor estrae lo stream video ed audio ad esso indirizzato, il dispositivo trasmette la parte restante dello stream video ed audio lungo la catena. Ogni monitor facente parte della configurazione a catena deve disporre di tutte le informazioni.
Il metodo alternativo per utilizzare MST con più display richiede la presenza di un Hub MST. L'Hub MST suddivide l'intera banda di un'uscita DisplayPort e, ad esempio, consente l'invio di 4 segnali Full HD indipendenti a 60 Hz. Gli Hub MST possono distribuire questi segnali video (con audio) ai monitor collegati. Questa tipologia di configurazione consente anche l'utilizzo di display con ingressi differenti.
