2-channel DA Converter
The DANGEROUS MUSIC CONVERT-2 is a 2-channel DA converter featuring transparency and accuracy thanks to an extremely open and three-dimensional sound. No menus, no cryptic multi-finger combinations to remember - just clearly labeled single-function buttons and a volume knob. However, CONVERT's elegant front panel belies its rich feature set, which brings a level of versatility found in no other DAC.
Specifications
- Dedicated Volume Control with Hard-Bypass - If you ever need to lower the output level of the CONVERT-2, just turn the knob. When fully raised, the volume control is bypassed for feeding a dedicated monitor controller (like our ST monitor). When engaged, the volume control allows for exact output levels for many applications, useful when sending the analog outputs directly to a set of speakers and using CONVERT-2 as a monitor controller.
- Instant Input Calibration - With industry-standard reference levels of -14, -16, and -18dBFS, you can recalibrate the CONVERT-2 at the press of a button.
- Automatic Sample Rate Detection - Just select "Auto" on the front panel and CONVERT-2 will match the sample rate to the input signal.
- On-the-fly Input Switching - Unique to CONVERT, you can now switch between digital inputs via the front panel buttons. No more digging through elaborate menus and system settings just to listen to iTunes, no more redirecting software drivers just to hear a different output. And because CONVERT can automatically lock to the sample rate of the incoming signal, you don't even have to think about sample rates as you switch between inputs. Five digital inputs include USB, AES/SPDIF-1, AES/SPDIF-2, ADAT, and Optical SPDIF (TOSLINK).
- USB Uplink: With its unique USB Uplink technology, you can route CONVERT's AES/SPDIF-2 signal via the USB cable and into your DAW session for printing. Plus, you can easily switch between monitoring the original digital signal or the Uplinked signal, meaning you can add final plugins to your DAW's return track and quickly flip between the processed and unprocessed stereo signal - particularly useful for mixing or mastering.
- Custom Measurements: Our high-quality custom digital meter provides peak-over-average measurements, typically found in expensive outboard measurement meters. The meter automatically calibrates to the chosen input reference level, providing consistent visuals on every project. Our "3-word-over" indicator tells you when three consecutive samples are clipping, meaning you're a hair's breadth away from violating industry standards for CD playback and are about to generate clipping distortion that could be audible in any digital file.
- Use the CONVERT as your Master Clock - It's no secret that many digital audio systems are slaved to the best clock in the rack, and CONVERT's ultra-low jitter JetPLL technology is winning more and more shootouts, sending expensive external clocks into retirement. Just use the Word Clock output and set the CONVERT to Master mode from the front panel, and all your studio's digital devices can benefit from CONVERT's state-of-the-art digital technology.
- ST Connectivity Monitoring: Simply connect the CONVERT-2 to the ST monitor to bring remote control of CONVERT's digital input switching right to your fingertips from the ST remote. By incorporating the CONVERT into your existing ST monitoring setup, you seamlessly add today's best DAC to your monitoring system.
