Patented Drivers and Focal Know-How
Focal engineers chose a 15/8" (40mm) aluminum/magnesium electrodynamic driver with an "M"-shaped dome, an exclusive innovation that allows for incredibly precise sound reproduction. Aluminum is used to increase the rigidity of the dome and drastically reduce distortion, while magnesium helps ensure excellent damping. Thanks to this combination of materials, the driver provides deep bass, precise high frequencies, and a crystal-clear mid-range. The "M" shape of the dome guarantees exceptional rigidity, promoting a linear frequency response and improving sound diffusion. The components of the driver unit have been angled inside the earcups to improve the stereophonic image, while the acoustic load has been optimized to provide performance similar to that of a bass-reflex speaker, for extended low frequencies.
