13" Studio Subwoofer
The FOCAL SUB12 is a studio subwoofer that offers unrivaled articulation, impact, and depth. Thanks to its 13" (33 cm) speaker driver with a "W" shaped cone and very high excursion, as well as its BASH amplifier with 600W RMS and 1000W peak-to-peak power, sound reproduction is more impactful and faithful than ever.
Additionally, there are optimized braces and a front laminar port inspired by Focal's Trio11 monitors, as well as internal and external vents to reduce noise and distortion. On the back, a comprehensive set of bass, low-pass, high-pass, and variable phase controls can be used to perfectly adjust settings for any system.
The "W" composite cone is manufactured in France by Focal and allows for perfectly optimizing the frequency response curve. The unique lightweight and rigid characteristics of this cone control the transmission speed of the signal within the material. The modulation of the structural foam's thickness provides very precise control over the cone's damping quality. During listening, it creates total sound transparency, a very low distortion rate, and excellent phase response.
In addition to its large laminar vent that eliminates noise and distortion, the FOCAL SUB12 features a disengageable automatic standby mode and offers variable user controls for low-pass, high-pass, and phase, allowing maximum precision to achieve the perfect studio sound. Finally, for added convenience, wide handles on the sides of the cabinet allow two people to easily transport this product.
The rear controls of the FOCAL SUB12 include switches for polarity, sensitivity +4dBu or -10dBv, automatic standby bypass, input, and total LFE. The FOCAL SUB12 also has an input and output for a stand switch, to connect the bypass for a single Sub12 or simultaneously on multiple Sub12 subwoofers.
