Red 4Pre is the best Focusrite audio interface ever. Red 4Pre boasts 4 new 'Red Evolution' microphone preamplifiers specifically designed with 'Air' transformer emulation, high-headroom instrument inputs, a new ultra-low distortion digital conversion design, and a total of 58 inputs and 64 outputs. Red 4Pre is equipped with 2 Thunderbolt™ 2 ports, ensuring very low round-trip latency and direct connection to Pro Tools HD systems. Add the ability to connect up to 64 additional channels via Ethernet-based Dante™ audio network, and you have one of the most advanced and best-sounding interfaces.
The software-controlled microphone preamplifiers offer clear and real audio performance with -129 dB EIN and 63dB of gain, and include the exclusive Focusrite 'Air' effect, which authentically recreates the sound of classic transformer-based ISA series preamplifiers. The 'Air' effect is ideal for bringing out the characteristics of a voice or adding presence to an acoustic guitar. Red 4Pre boasts a high-performance conversion system with new features, including 'parallel path summing,' where two matched converters work in parallel to increase the signal-to-noise ratio. Sampling occurs at a maximum of 24-bit, 192 kHz – ideal for achieving high-resolution audio – with a dynamic range of 118dB (A-D)/121dB (D-A). Other features: THD+Noise ≤0.0009% and flat frequency response from 20Hz to 35kHz ±0.25 dB.
Red 4Pre offers excellent connectivity. It features two Thunderbolt 2 ports allowing you to daisy-chain your hard drives or displays, boasts the lowest round-trip latency among our interfaces, and has dual DigiLink™ connectors for direct connection to Pro Tools HD systems and Avid® interfaces. Ethernet-based Dante network audio – the studio interconnection of the future – is already integrated. Add extra inputs and outputs, right where you need them, with up to 64 channels through any combination of Dante interfaces, including the Focusrite RedNet series, ensuring low-latency expansion at lower costs – usable wherever there's an Ethernet cable.
