Visual monitoring of levels across the entire Gain Staging chain. Scarlett's dynamic Meter Halo LEDs allow you to easily and quickly set Gain levels on inputs with any audio source. From today, on the Scarlett 4i4 we also find the Meter Halo on the output, so the circumference of the knob dedicated to setting your Monitor output volume will light up to give you awareness of the output level and any distortion. On your Scarlett 4i4 4th Gen inputs you can activate Auto Gain: press the button and play for ten seconds, Scarlett will take care of setting the perfect level for whatever you are recording.

Clip Safe is the new useful feature to preserve the parts you recorded in case the maximum input level is exceeded, or 0dBFS. When active, the signal will be subject to level analysis with a resolution of 96000 points per second, then implementing a combination of automatic adjustments both in analog, on the preamps, and in digital via DSP. This pairing of Auto Gain and Clip Safe will make your recordings simpler and more immediate: focus on performance and less on controls.

The well-known Air feature, born to emulate the sound of historic Focusrite analog consoles, has undergone significant improvement in this fourth-generation series: analog presence and DSP-based saturation. We are free to apply only the analog one or both at our pleasure. Make your recorded tracks stand out in the mix. Once you try it, you won't be able to do without it.

A custom-designed headphone amplifier, with 300 Ohm impedance and an enviable dynamic range are the perfect conditions for the best sound reproduction you have ever obtained from a Scarlett interface. Thanks to independent volume controls on the headphone output and on the Master monitor output you can record, mix and playback audio by setting the levels of the two outputs as you like. Even high-impedance headphones will now sound louder and more linear with your fourth-generation Scarlett.
