The FREDENSTEIN F676 is a tube microphone preamplifier with a fully balanced signal path. It features transformers on both input and output. The FREDENSTEIN F676 uses DSP to control the tube operating points, ensuring perfect working conditions at all times. The end result is a tube preamplifier with a very pleasing sonic footprint, smooth and soft highs without being harsh, and very detailed mids and lows. Its physical footprint is also very suitable for many desktop situations where it can be conveniently placed within reach.
Control functions include 0 to 76 dB of gain in 1 dB steps along with a 20 dB pad. It also includes Phantom Power, Polarity, High Pass Filter, and 2 impedance settings (1K ohm and 200 ohm).
The FREDENSTEIN F676 also has some unusual controls; one to set either Fully Balanced or Single Ended circuitry and another that injects DC into the output transformer. Each of these is designed to create refined vintage characteristics beyond those of the basic tube/transformer topology. The FREDENSTEIN F676 also allows you to save and recall 99 user presets.
The LCD display graphically shows peak output level and gain settings. It also shows the tube status as it self-calibrates so you can be sure the unit is operating optimally.
The name F676 is a tribute to the famous German V76 tube microphone amplifier which was the sonic inspiration for this unit.
