The performance of the Genelec 8040B system, compact bi-amplified monitors, is comparable to higher-end systems. Ideal in all cases where a wide frequency response is needed even in reduced spaces. The most common uses for this product are as nearfield in project/home studio, workstation, control room, broadcast, TV and mobile equipment. The ISS function (Intelligent Signal Sensing) reduces the system's power consumption to less than 0.5 watts by automatically putting the monitor in standby when no signal is detected at the inputs for a certain period of time. As soon as an audio signal is detected at the input, the system turns on instantly. This ISS function is compatible with the new EU regulations and the ErP 2013 Directive which regulates the consumption of electronic equipment. The reflex duct has been designed to provide clear and defined bass, free from distortion, compression or noise. The combination of waveguide control, Genelec Directivity Control Waveguide™ (DCW™), rounded corners and subtle curvature of both the front and cabinet, MDE™ (Minimum Diffraction Enclosure™), result in a surprisingly flat frequency response both on-axis and off-axis. Another major advantage is extremely precise and detailed imaging and minimal listening fatigue. A sophisticated crossover filter system processes the signal sent to the amplifiers: each ultra-low distortion speaker has a dedicated one. 8040B is equipped as standard with magnetic shielding, overload protection circuit and a versatile environmental correction system. The holes on the back allow for correct and safe wall mounting.
