The R1A from Golden Age Project's Premier line is a high-quality, cost-effective ribbon microphone with vintage sound, active electronics, and high-end components. The R1A offers the musical and natural sound that characterized some classic microphones of the past like the RCA 44 and 77 – some examples of which are still used for high-quality recordings 80 years later – as well as fast and realistic transient reproduction and a surprising sense of "presence." Additionally, the R1A's active circuit significantly increases the output level, making it ideal even for recording delicate sound sources without the need for special high-gain microphone preamplifiers. One of the factors that usually affects the sound of passive ribbon microphones is the input impedance of the microphone preamplifier they are connected to. The special buffer in the R1A's active output circuit consistently ensures maximum performance in any situation. The R1A is perfect for recording most sound sources such as vocals, acoustic instruments, strings, horns, orchestras, and choirs.
