1-Channel Vintage-Style Compressor
COMP-3A is a compressor/limiter with vintage sound character. The signal path uses discrete components (resistors, capacitors, diodes, transistors) and separate transformers optimized for input and output stages. The use of discrete components allows for reproducing the sought-after vintage sound qualities – more musical, which cannot be achieved with current technologies. COMP-3A's circuit is inspired by the famous electro-optical "program dependent" compressors of the past, in which attenuation was controlled via an electroluminescent panel and a photoelectric cell. The compression control based essentially on Gain and Peak Reduction parameters allows you to achieve the desired sound more easily. COMP-3A includes an adjustable high-pass filter for better sidechain control, a Link connector that allows you to connect two units for stereo operation with balance adjustment, and adjustable output stage gain. The Limit switch varies the compression curve to use COMP-3A as a limiter. The analog meter allows you to display both the output level and the gain reduction provided by compression.
