Vintage-style Compressor/Limiter
COMP-3A jr is a compressor / leveler with vintage sound characteristics. The signal path is realized with discrete components (resistors, capacitors, diodes, transistors) and separate transformers optimized for the input and output stages. The use of discrete components allows you to reproduce the sought-after vintage sound qualities – more musical, which cannot be obtained with current technologies. The COMP-3A jr circuit is inspired by the famous electro-optical "program dependent" compressors of the past, in which attenuation was controlled through an electroluminescent panel and a photoelectric cell. The compression control based essentially on the Gain Makeup and Peak Reduction parameters allows you to achieve the desired sound more easily. COMP-3A jr includes a high-pass filter for better sidechain control, a Link connector that allows you to connect two units together for stereo operations, adjustable output stage gain, and a "Time" switch that allows you to choose between 3 different attack/release time settings. The analog meter allows you to display both the output level and the gain reduction provided by compression.
