The GOLDEN AGE PROJECT COMP-54 MKIII is a vintage-sounding compressor, with circuits very similar to those of the famous 2254 compressor designed in 1969, which, thanks to its unique, warm, soft, and musical sound, immediately became a benchmark for professionals.
As in its famous predecessor, the signal path of the GOLDEN AGE PROJECT COMP-54 MKIII is Class "A" and is made with discrete components (resistors, capacitors, diodes, transistors) and separate transformers for the input, output, and interstage.
The GOLDEN AGE PROJECT COMP-54 MKIII features an extremely smooth gain control, implemented with a diode bridge, and offers independent controls for compression ratio, attack time, and release (including 2 Auto positions) and for the threshold. For better sidechain control, there is a high-pass filter with 3 selectable frequencies.
The bypass switch operates a relay circuit that diverts the signal from the input to the output. The In/Out switch allows you to activate or deactivate compression while maintaining the "coloration" given by the transformers and the typical vintage electronic circuitry. The analog meter displays both the output level and the gain reduction caused by compression. A dedicated Link connector allows two GOLDEN AGE PROJECT COMP-54 MKIII units to be connected for stereo operations.
Unlike the previous version, the GOLDEN AGE PROJECT COMP-54 MKIII also includes a practical Insert connector for connecting the Golden Age Project EQ-73 and EQ-81.
