FEATURES
Compact, powerful, and easy-to-transport passive subwoofer with bass-reflex tuning. It features a specially designed 18" woofer with a 5" voice coil, allowing for wide linear excursion (±15 mm).
Through ventilation at the pole core, heat generated by the voice coil is optimally dissipated, thus enabling a high power handling capacity of 1800 WRMS and 7200 W peak. Lower heat generation also means increased reliability and reduced thermal stress on the voice coil; the result is excellent dynamics and a dry, controlled bass reproduction at an incredible sound pressure.
It does not have an internal passive crossover, so frequency cutoff must be performed by Harmonic Design system power amplifiers or an external electronic crossover; up to a maximum of 160 Hz (with a 24 dB/oct slope), it ensures the best possible transitions between subwoofer and satellite.
The cabinet is made of high-quality multilayer wood, painted to be scratch, impact, and weather resistant with a finely textured polyurea finish. Two ergonomic transport handles on the top ensure easy handling. There are also threads for attaching hd SilentWheels, the special acoustically decoupled 100 mm wheels. An M20 threaded insert on the top of the cabinet allows for mounting a pole to attach another loudspeaker. The hd Sub18 is also available in an installation version without handles and M20 thread.
It can be used as a slave subwoofer in addition to the hd P18 stereo active subwoofer or with all Harmonic Design system power amplifiers to ensure reliable and accurate low-frequency reproduction.
