Per particolari tipi di applicazioni nelle installazioni fisse e mobili, è disponibile il modulo di espansione Harmonic Design hd MLC Cardioid. Il suo scopo è quello di attenuare efficacemente le componenti di frequenza in gamma medio-bassa, retro-irradiate dai diffusori a colonna, fino a 20 dB.
La direttività del Line Array ottimizzata dall’hd MLC riduce quindi notevolmente la suscettibilità al feedback del diffusore stesso nella gamma medio-bassa e, allo stesso tempo, migliora l'intelligibilità del parlato, poiché nessuna energia sonora viene irradiata in modo diffuso in aree indesiderate.
Il modulo hd MLC viene montato direttamente sul retro delle hd ML-/PL-Series LineArray Stick e gestito tramite un canale amplificatore separato. Le caratteristiche cardioidi o ipercardioidi possono essere facilmente recuperate tramite il preset DSP corrispondente.
Oltre alla riduzione dell'energia sonora retro-irradiata, il modulo hd MLC Cardioid estende anche la pressione sonora in gamma medio-bassa nella direzione del pubblico; ciò rende il suono ancora più incisivo e dinamico mantenendo la stessa lunghezza del Line Array. Uno speakON è posizionato sulla piastra inferiore per il collegamento degli ingressi, mentre una flangia da 35 mm consente l'uso autonomo come diffusore principale su un treppiede.
