FEATURES

Column loudspeaker with 12 x 3" full-range loudspeakers in an elegant rounded aluminium cabinet. The drivers couple to create a (nearly) cylindrical wavefront with a vertical opening of 15°, resulting in a constant sound pressure level and virtually uniform sound reproduction from the first to the last row. 

The wide throw (up to 20 m) and 80° horizontal coverage allow for great efficiency with few loudspeakers. This means a more direct sound, greater speech intelligibility, and high feedback rejection in acoustically problematic rooms. 

Therefore, hd PL series column loudspeakers are ideal for voice and music reproduction in halls, clubs, and churches. Like the hd ML16, the hd PL12 stands out for its reduced overall height and weight, which facilitate use in venues with low ceiling heights and allow easy transport by car. 

Thanks to the increased directivity of the 3" drivers, the 80° horizontal opening angle means that sound energy is channelled even more, thus allowing for a greater throw. With a larger diaphragm surface area than the hd ML16, the reproduction of music and speech in the mid-low range of the hd PL12 is even more powerful, and higher sound pressure can be achieved. 

In fixed installations, the use of a subwoofer for speech reproduction can be avoided thanks to the system's full-range capability.

To reproduce a sound program from the fundamental to the harmonics, conventional loudspeakers use two or three different types of transducers. This results in inconsistency not only in the vicinity of the crossover cut-off frequencies, but also in the important mid-frequency range due to the different decay times and different diaphragm masses of different transducers. Especially in reproduction where the low range is covered by one type of transducer and the high range by another, the sound can be distorted. This is where the 1-way design of the hd PL series comes into its own: full-range loudspeakers covering the fundamental to harmonic range, the advantages of Line Array (cylindrical wave) and sound wave coherence, without "phasing" and group delay: a unique listening experience.

The continuous metal guide for M6 cage nuts on the back allows any mounting of wall brackets or a tilting tripod adapter. A 35 mm integrated flange is located at the bottom. A high-quality powder coating in aluminium and acoustic foam complete the features of the PL series. 

For safe transport, Harmonic Design offers a customised nylon case with a full zip, complete with handle and shoulder strap.
