HERITAGE AUDIO GRANDCHILD 670
Estimated delivery in Italy between 18 and 22 June
After surprising and impressing the audio industry with the HERCHILD Model 670 and Model 660, Heritage Audio turned to the 500 series format to offer something extremely rare: a tube stereo Variable Mu analog compressor in a dual-slot 500 series module! The GRANDCHILD 670/500 is equipped with 4 NOS 6BA6 (5749) tubes, three exclusively designed transformers (one per channel and one for the Sidechain), and the selected components and circuitry needed to capture that elusive sound. For the very first time, you can get that much sought-after tone and response in such an accessible format. In common with its big brother, there is an INPUT GAIN control with an adjustable range of 20 dB, AC threshold, 5 selectable Attack and Release times, DC threshold giving access to the progressive ratio – a unique curve adjustment combining ratio and knee control, step-adjustable from hard limiting to very soft and transparent compression. There is also a 3-position High-Pass Sidechain filter to reduce the influence of low frequencies on the detection circuit, indispensable for current productions. Being a stereo unit, the sum of both channels determines the overall dB of gain reduction for both channels, ensuring a stable stereo image. All housed in a solid 2-slot unit for the popular 500 series format, with an attractive front panel and a beautiful, informative VU meter that indicates not only gain reduction but also the status of the 3-position Active/Bypass/Off switch, visible even from a distance. It's not easy to achieve that classic warm, enveloping, and intimate sound that seems to effortlessly glue a mix musically, but the GRANDCHILD 670/500 does it perfectly. Heritage Audio engineers rose to the challenge and responded with determination to achieve that rich, elegant, and classy tone. With four 6BA6 (5749) tubes and three transformers, you can be sure that your signal will be treated properly and anything passing through the GRANDCHILD 670/500 will come out sounding decidedly better. • Input Impedance: 15 kΩ • Input Level: +24 dBu • Output Impedance: 50 Ω • Output Level: +29 dBu • Frequency Response: 20 Hz - 20 kHz ± 0.5 dB • Self Noise: less than -78 dBu • Harmonic Distortion: less than 0.5% at any level up to +24 dBu out (without compression) • Dimensions (W × H × D): 180 × 133 × 75 mm • Weight: 1.120 kg • Consumption: slightly over 200 mA per rail per slot (+16V/-16V)
