8-slot Lunchbox and 10-channel Summing Mixer
The HERITAGE AUDIO MCM 8 is an 8-slot lunchbox and 10-channel summing mixer in a 3U rack, and it is the "Top of the Line" of 500 series lunchboxes with "ON SLOT" Technology (OTS).
"ON SLOT TECHNOLOGY" utilizes latest generation power electronics to manage power on a "per slot" basis. Each slot has its own linear power supply regulation phases; therefore, modules are isolated from the rest. They only share the metal enclosure.
Each slot has test LEDs to check for correct power supply operation (red for +16v, green for -16v), located next to the slot connector.
Thanks to the use of OST, the power capacity of the MCM-8 is 400 mA per rail per slot, with a total of 1.4 A (1.6 A non-continuous) per rail, depending on which is reached first.
Total available Phantom power is 140mA.
The RAF Blue Grey case is made of heavy gauge steel with an aluminum front panel.
There are Pan and Fader controls per slot on dual concentric potentiometers. The Pan pots are center-detented for precise central positioning. Features include an ON switch to assign each channel to the Mix Bus.
The Mix Bus follows a passive voltage summing topology, similar to that of 80 series consoles from the 1970s. Gain loss is restored by the same Class A, 2n3055 based, transformer-balanced output stage used in Heritage Audio 1073.
On the back of the unit, there is an additional stereo input, allowing you to connect multiple MCM-8 units or signals that do not require further 500 series processing.
The center section has analog VU meters and a Stereo Master fader.
Connections are made via gold-plated XLRs and DSUB25 inputs and outputs, with standard Tascam protocol.
