Stereo Mastering Compressor
The IGS TUBECORE 3U is a fully balanced stereo mastering compressor with a symmetrical transformer. The design is based on the typical vari-mu solution. In addition to the classic INPUT, THRESHOLD, and OUTPUT controls, it introduces a switchable high-pass filter in the sidechain, parallel compression (MIX knob), independent ATTACK and RELEASE switches, and user-replaceable tubes accessible from the rear of the unit.
The IGS TUBECORE 3U was designed as a studio mastering compressor. It is built using a 3U design, which improves front panel clarity and simplifies the replacement of the tubes located at the rear. The compressor allows working in both dual mono and mid/side (M/S) modes. The Mode switch has two bypass positions: both do the same thing, but the second was added for comfort and quick A/B comparison.
The design of the IGS TUBECORE 3U is based on the possibility of replacing the tubes. As a user, you can choose from a few types:
- 6N1P-EW (6N3P-EW): Standard tube set; "standard" IGS compression
- 6BC8/6BZ8: Tight, transparent, punchy compression
- 6386: Legendary compression, from the famous dual triode
- 5670: Deep, dark tube compression.
The User Manual describes in detail how to replace the tubes, so it is quick and simple.
Every single IGS TUBECORE 3U is handcrafted with high-quality matched components (1% metal film resistors, Wima caps). It features NOS 6N1P-EW (6N3P-EW) tubes and is individually calibrated to guarantee the unique and pristine experience of one of the best vari-mu compressors in history. It features Carnhill and Sowter audio transformers.
