Hybrid Drum Machine with 4 Analog Parts and 7 Digital Parts
4 PCM, 2 User Samples, and a Multi-engine (Noise, VPM, User Synth), equipped with a 64-step Sequencer with 11 tracks featuring loop and chain functions. 3 effect sections: send reverb and delay on each individual part, and a Master effect. 6 separate audio outputs, a USB-A MIDI port for direct connection of USB MIDI Class Compliant Controllers; a USB-B port connects to a computer for both MIDI In/Out and for directly loading audio samples and Units Plugins into the instrument's internal memory.
Korg drumlogue represents a paradigm shift in the world of drum machines, thanks to its triple hybrid engine: the rich sound power of analog, the flexibility of digital parts, and the SDK for complete customization of the synthesis section. All this in a robust and compact product (317x189x73mm; 1.4KG) made of brushed aluminum, with wooden side panels. The angled panel has been specially designed for improved ergonomics and optimal accessibility and visibility of parameters, enhanced by an OLED display that allows visual tracking of sequence content and editing.
Equipped with a dynamic sequencer, editable effects, and intuitive controls, drumlogue is a must-have for music production in the recording studio and live performances, for any genre or musical style.
drumlogue is easy to use
drumlogue is not only powerful, it's extremely easy to use. Organized with simplicity and accessibility in mind, the most important parameters for the main drum parts all have dedicated knobs on the front panel that can be adjusted on the fly, in addition to dedicated volume potentiometers for each part that will speed up the mixing process. Its large, clear OLED screen, combined with its simple user interface with 4 dedicated encoder knobs, makes the navigation process quick and smooth.
The analog power of drumlogue
Designed to give you the ultimate analog sound for your rhythm parts, drumlogue employs completely new analog circuits with extreme depth and richness of sound developed by legendary engineer Junichi Ikeuchi, a member of the Korg analog synthesizer design team who oversaw the development of products such as ARP 2600 M, MS-20 mini, ARP Odyssey, etc. These new analog circuits – Bass Drum, Snare Drum, Low Tom, and High Tom – provide a solid foundation for your tracks and will make them stand out thanks to their rich harmonics and distinctive fullness in the low frequencies.
Combining simplicity and ease of use, the most important parameters for each of these parts can be managed by dedicated knobs on the front panel that can be modified at any time without having to resort to the menu; this way you can define your sound quickly and intuitively, on the fly. For further sonic exploration, each part has many more parameters accessible through the powerful integrated editing system.
Last but not least, each part of the drumlogue – analog or digital – has a dedicated volume knob.
The digital flexibility of drumlogue
As a complementary ally to the analog section, drumlogue offers a full 7 digital parts: 6 sample-based (4 PCM, 2 User Samples) and one synthesis-based (Multi-Engine). The sample-based parts can play any PCM bank preloaded into the instrument, or play your own audio samples imported into its memory from any computer via USB, making it an extremely versatile machine with virtually unlimited sonic possibilities. To get started, the 128 preloaded drum kits will provide you with a wide variety of sounds covering different musical genres, so you can easily produce your tracks. The total memory available in the Korg drumlogue is 32MB.
Multi-Engine and logue SDK for drumlogue
The popular Multi Engine from prologue and minilogue xd is now more powerful than ever. In addition to the Variable Phase Modulation (VPM) and Noise generator engines, the Multi Engine features a new User Custom slot capable of playing synthesized voices that incredibly extend its sonic capabilities, like you've never heard before on a drum machine.
Custom Synth for drumlogue
Drumlogue's synthesized voices are not simple static waveforms. It is possible to create custom synthesizers not only to generate sound, but also to implement integrated filters, LFOs, MIDI-controlled polyphony, or other parameters. The only restriction for third-party developers is their creativity (and CPU!). NB: Units developed for prologue, minilogue xd, and NTS-1 are not directly compatible with drumlogue, for more information on the SDK click here.
Exclusive Sinevibes Synth Plugin “Nano”
Korg has partnered with renowned logueSDK plugin developer Sinevibes, who produced the brand new Nano synth plugin available as a factory preset on drumlogue. This plugin explores the power of the revamped Multi Engine and gives all users a taste of this new platform.
"Nano" is a full-fledged virtual analog synthesizer with a wide range of features and numerous customizable parameters. The synthesizer has two oscillators with optional ring modulation, a 4-pole variable-state filter with soft clipping distortion, and integrated EGs and multi-waveform LFOs. Leads, basses, percussive sounds or cinematic effects – you decide how to use this incredible sonic potential!
The powerful Sequencer of drumlogue
Drumlogue harnesses all its sonic power in an extremely powerful, flexible, and easy-to-use 11-track integrated sequencer. Tired of the same old rhythms? The 64-step sequencer of drumlogue makes it easy and intuitive to create complex rhythmic patterns and polyrhythms that elevate the music creation process with innovative features such as probability, alternate trigger patterns, and micro-offsets for each step, groove patterns per track, and much more.
The drumlogue is fantastic both in the studio and live. With its Chain mode, creating extended and evolving tracks is simple and clearly displayed on the screen. In Loop mode you can switch between variations to play the sequence in new and interesting ways. The Motion and Accent recording functions are intuitive and fast, and if you want to experiment with your track, the Randomization function is there to help.
The Effects in drumlogue
drumlogue includes several high-quality effects organized into three categories that can be used simultaneously: Delay, Reverb, and Master. The send amount to the delay and reverb effects is independently adjustable for each part, and multiple return points are available. Master effects allow you to add that final touch to your sound, can be bypassed per part, to allow you to send the effect to specific audio parts. A sidechain bus is also available for mastering effects that can use it. In addition to the multiple and varied included Delay, Reverb, and Master effects, the drumlogue can also load custom third-party Delay / Reverb / Master effects.
Each effect can implement up to 24 parameters, all easily accessible in the well-structured menu.
drumlogue has an audio input, so you can process other instruments through the effect chain, making it an ideal companion for your studio setup.
The connections of the Korg drumlogue
drumlogue has a variety of connections to seamlessly integrate with your rig. The USB-A port of drumlogue allows connectivity with other USB MIDI class compliant devices in order to further extend the control of sounds and parameters. For example, control the volume of each part with the faders of nanoKONTROL2 or play sounds using the velocity-sensitive pads on the nanoPAD2, thus adding additional layers of expression and integration.
Drumlogue has four individual audio outputs, in addition to the headphone output and the L/MONO and R outputs. Any part can be assigned to any output to expand routing options for external processing or multitrack recording.Korg drumlogue easily syncs with your gear via MIDI IN/OUT, analog SYNC IN/OUT, or with a computer-based DAW via USB.
