Hybrid Drum Machine with 4 analog sections and 7 digital
4 PCM, 2 User sample and a Multi-engine (Noise?VPM?User Synth), equipped with a 64 step Sequencer with 11 tracks with loop and chain. 3 effects sections: reverb and delay on each individual part and Master. 6 separate audio outputs, a MIDI USB Type A port for direct connection of USB MIDI Class Compliant Controller; a Type B port connects to the computer for both MIDI In/Out and to directly load audio samples and Plugin Units into the instrument's internal memory.
Korg drumlogue represents a paradigm shift in the drum machine world, thanks to its triple hybrid engine: the power of rich analog sound, the flexibility of digital sections, and the SDK for complete customization of the synthesis section. All in a robust and compact product (317x189x73mm; 1.4KG) in brushed aluminum with wooden side panels. The tilted control panel has been specifically designed for better ergonomics and excellent accessibility and visibility of parameters enhanced by an OLED display that allows you to visually follow the sequences content and its respective editing.
Equipped with a dynamic sequencer, editable effects, and intuitive controls, drumlogue is a must-have for music production in recording studios and live performances, for any genre or musical style.
drumlogue is easy to use
drumlogue is not only powerful, it is extremely easy to use. Organized with simplicity and accessibility in mind, the most important parameters for the main drum parts all have dedicated knobs on the front panel that can be adjusted on the fly, plus dedicated volume potentiometers for each part that will speed up the mixing process. Its large, clear OLED screen, combined with its straightforward user interface with 4 dedicated encoder knobs, makes navigation quick and fluid.
The analog power of drumlogue
Designed to give you the ultimate analog sound for your rhythmic parts, drumlogue employs completely new analog circuits of extreme depth and sound richness developed by legendary engineer Junichi Ikeuchi, member of the Korg analog synthesizer design team who oversaw the development of products such as ARP 2600 M, MS-20 mini, ARP Odyssey, etc. These new analog circuits – Bass Drum, Snare Drum, Low Tom and High Tom – represent a solid foundation for your tracks and will make them stand out thanks to the richness of harmonics and distinctive fullness in the low frequencies.
Combining simplicity and ease of use, the most important parameters for each of these parts are manageable via dedicated knobs on the front panel that can be modified at any time without having to resort to the menu; so you can define your sound quickly and intuitively, on the fly. For further sound exploration, each part has many more parameters accessible through the powerful integrated editing system.
Last but not least, each part of the drumlogue – analog or digital – has a dedicated volume knob.
The digital flexibility of drumlogue
As a complementary ally to the analog section, drumlogue provides 7 digital parts: 6 based on samples (4 PCM, 2 User Samples) and one based on synthesis (Multi-Engine). The sample-based parts can play any PCM bank preloaded in the instrument, or play your audio samples imported into its memory from any computer via USB, making it an extremely versatile machine with virtually unlimited sound possibilities. To get started, the 128 preset drum kits will give you a wide variety of sounds covering different music genres so you can easily produce your tracks. The total memory available in the Korg drumlogue is 32MB.
Multi-Engine and logue SDK for drumlogue
The popular Multi Engine from prologue and minilogue xd is now more powerful than ever. In addition to the Variable Phase Modulation (VPM) and Noise generator engines, the Multi Engine features a new User Custom slot capable of playing synthesized voices that incredibly extend sonic capabilities like you've never heard before on a drum machine.
Custom Synth for drumlogue
Drumlogue's synthesized voices are not simple static waveforms. It is possible to create custom synthesizers not only to generate sound, but also to implement integrated filters, LFO, MIDI-controlled polyphony or other parameters. The only restriction for third-party developers is their creativity (and CPU!). NB: Units developed for prologue, minilogue xd and NTS-1 are not directly compatible with drumlogue; for more information on the SDK click here.
Exclusive Sinevibes Synth Plugin "Nano"
Korg collaborated with the renowned logueSDK plug-in developer Sinevibes who produced the brand new Nano synth plugin available as a factory preset on drumlogue. This plugin explores the power of the renewed Multi Engine and provides all users with a taste of this new platform.
"Nano" is a full-fledged virtual analog synthesizer with a wide range of features and numerous customizable parameters. The synthesizer has two oscillators with optional ring modulation, a 4-pole state variable filter with soft clipping distortion, integrated multi-waveform EG and LFO. Lead, bass, percussive sounds or cinematic effects – decide how you want to use this incredible sonic potential!
The powerful drumlogue Sequencer
Drumlogue harnesses its full sonic power in an integrated 11-track sequencer that is extremely powerful, flexible, and easy to use. Tired of the usual rhythms? The 64-step sequencer of drumlogue makes it easy and intuitive to create complex rhythmic patterns and polyrhythms that elevate the music creation process with innovative features such as probability, alternate trigger patterns, and micro offset for each step, groove templates per track, and much more.
The drumlogue is fantastic both in the studio and live. With its Chain mode, creating extended and evolving tracks is simple and clearly visualized on the display. In Loop mode you can switch from one variation to another to play back the sequence in new and interesting ways. The Motion and Accent recording functions are intuitive and fast, and if you want to experiment on your track, the Randomization function is there to help you.
Effects in the drumlogue
drumlogue includes several high-quality effects organized into three categories that can be used simultaneously: Delay, Reverb, and Master. The amount of send to the delay and reverb effects is independently adjustable for each part, and multiple return points are available. Master effects allow you to add that final touch to your sound and can be bypassed on a per-part basis, allowing you to send the effect to specific audio parts. A sidechain bus is also available to master effects that can use it. In addition to the multiple and varied Delay, Reverb, and Master effects included, drumlogue can also load custom third-party Delay / Reverb / Master effects.
Each effect can implement up to 24 parameters, all easily accessible in the well-structured menu.
drumlogue has an audio input, so you can process other instruments through the effects chain, making it an ideal companion for your studio setup.
Korg drumlogue connections
drumlogue has a variety of connections to integrate seamlessly with your rig. The USB-A port of drumlogue allows connectivity with other MIDI USB class compliant devices in order to further extend control of sounds and parameters. For example, control the volume of each part with the faders on the nanoKONTROL2 or play sounds using the velocity-sensitive pads on the nanoPAD2 adding further levels of expression and integration.
Drumlogue has four individual audio outputs, plus headphone output and L/MONO and R outputs. You can assign any part to any output to expand routing options for external processing or multitrack recording.Korg drumlogue syncs easily with your equipment via MIDI IN/OUT, SYNC IN/OUT analog or with a computer-based DAW via USB.
