Synthesis and sounds of KROSS 2-61 WH
KROSS 2 uses the EDS-i (Enhanced Definition Synthesis) sound engine derived from high-end KORG workstations. It offers thousands of ready-to-use sounds – pianos, synths, strings, drum kits – with layering, splitting, and real-time modulation capabilities. Each sound can be customized using 5 insert effects, 2 master effects, and a global EQ, with series or parallel routing for extremely versatile results.
Sampling and pads
The 16 backlit pads allow you to play samples, loops, or rhythmic phrases. You can record directly to pads from an external source and manage samples from internal memory or an SD card.
The Quick Layer/Split function allows you to combine two sounds in seconds for dynamic performances.
Recording and production
The 16-track sequencer allows you to create complete arrangements, while the stereo audio recorder lets you capture ideas, performances, or backing tracks in WAV format. USB connectivity also allows use as an audio/MIDI interface with computers (PC/Mac).
Connectivity
KROSS 2-61 WH includes audio inputs for microphone or line, headphone output, MIDI In/Out, USB-MIDI and USB-Audio, plus an SD card slot. The dual power supply – mains or batteries – makes it ideal for mobile use.
Design and portability
The matte white finish characterizes the limited edition KROSS 2-61 White, maintaining the low weight and solid frame. Perfect for those looking for a complete yet easy-to-transport instrument.
Instant access parameters
On the KROSS 2-61 WH, navigation is easy thanks to the optimized control panel that speeds up access to sounds and functions. The Real-Time Controls Section acts directly on the main parameters of KROSS 2 without having to navigate through many menus. These knobs control sounds, effects, Program editing, vocoder settings, or arpeggiator and sequencer tempo in real time.
KROSS 2-61 WH Favorites
This function stores frequently used sound resources (Program & Combi) for instant recall. We have 128 FAVORITE locations, a fundamentally important function especially for live performance to quickly access the sounds needed for our performances.
Quick Layer/Split
This dedicated button on the panel immediately overlays two Programs (Layer) or splits the keyboard (Split) into two left and right zones with two distinct timbres, with a single, quick and easy operation!
Category Dial
Immediately recalls sounds from the extensive available database; simply choose the main family such as: piano, organ, etc., and then quickly and intuitively recall the timbre within it.
KROSS 2-61 WH also works on battery power
KROSS 2-61 WH is light, portable with a compact design and a very low weight. Its optimized energy efficiency allows up to 7 hours of operation with 6 AA batteries. The KROSS 2 88 WH, the 88-key model, also has an accessory compartment that can hold spare batteries or cables, as well as an easily accessible battery panel on the front. On both models, the KORG logo on the rear panel is illuminated, an additional element to stand out on stage.
The audio Player/Recorder of KROSS 2-61 WH
The internal stereo audio recorder allows you to record performances on KROSS 2-61 MB, also overlaying an external sound source such as a voice. It is also possible to manage audio playback from the 16 Pads, assigning sounds or imported audio files to them. Unlike sampling, the Audio Recorder allows longer recordings, and playback is limited only by the capacity of the SD Card being used. By pressing the Pads during a performance with the keyboard, it is possible to activate sound effects or backing tracks for your performance.
KROSS 2-61 WH realizes musical ideas
The 16-track MIDI Sequencer can record keyboard performance, Controller movements, and even Pad Sampler performances, a simple and immediate support for realizing your musical ideas.
Step Sequencer - Allows you to quickly and intuitively create rhythmic patterns, up to 64 steps with the 16 Pads.
Drum Track - Adds percussive rhythmic support to your performances, simply by pressing a button. You can choose from over 700 different Drum Patterns capable of covering a wide variety of musical styles and genres.
Arpeggiator - This function is a great source of musical support and inspiration; simply press the keys to generate arpeggios, rhythmic phrases, bass riffs, or guitar accompaniments.
The KROSS 2-61 WH Vocoder
KROSS 2 has a 1/4" MIC IN jack for directly connecting a microphone, without the need for external equipment. In addition to the microphone, you can connect an audio player or sound generator, thanks to a dedicated Mini-jack LINE INPUT Stereo. It is also possible to process the voice with a Vocoder, obtaining the characteristic timbre and controlling it in real-time from the dedicated section on the panel.
KROSS 2-61 WH USB Audio Interface functions
In addition to transmitting and receiving MIDI data, the USB port of KROSS 2-61 WH can also operate as an audio interface, so it is possible to connect the workstation to a computer (Mac or Windows) and record on a DAW, or play the instrument in combination with an iPad or iPhone. In this regard, high-quality Apps created by KORG can be used as additional sound generators, or you can perform using musical tracks created with the KORG Gadget DAW application as support, all using a single USB cable.
A dedicated Editor and Plug-in Editor are also available for KROSS 2. These software allow computer editing of all the instrument's synthesis parameters, with their simultaneous display on screen. Or they allow complete management of the instrument within the DAW used, as if it were a software synthesizer.
* To connect to a PC, use a USB cable (sold separately).
* To connect to an iPad / iPhone, use the Apple Lightning - USB adapter (sold separately)
