microKORG was one of the most popular and iconic synthesizers that, in some respects, revolutionized the world of modern music with its unique architecture and unmistakable sounds. Used in countless historical performances and recordings, its influence has lasted for over 20 years. Loved by musicians, sound engineers, and producers, microKORG now evolves to a higher level with the new microKORG 2 BK. This new model retains all the most distinctive aspects of the original, such as its compact size, ease of transport, mini-keyboard, program selection dial, and vocoder with dedicated microphone. However, it offers many decidedly innovative aspects such as a new high-performance sound engine, an updated Sound Library with modern and impactful sounds, a user interface based on a bright 2.8'' color IPS LCD display that makes navigation even easier and more intuitive, combined with a new and powerful Vocal Processor with 4-voice Harmonizer, Hard-Tuning, Vocoder, and finally a Loop Recorder that makes the instrument perfect for the diverse world of today's music production.

Analog Physical Modeling Sound Engine

microKORG 2 BK features a completely new analog physical modeling sound engine, which delivers remarkable performance in terms of sound quality and dynamics. Without the typical restrictions of hardware synths, this instrument allows for an advanced level of sound design despite its ease of use, thanks to, for example, Virtual Patches that provide pre-set modulation paths, effective yet simple to use; all under the control of the new Display and its graphical interface which always clearly and precisely visualizes every operation performed on the panel. The sounds in the internal library of microKORG 2 BK have been completely reprogrammed to offer a wide timbral choice: from the traditional "Fat" and penetrating sounds of analog synths, to more modern, futuristic, and cinematic ones, to meet all the needs of modern musicians and producers.

New Display and Graphical Interface

The control panel is now equipped with a 2.8’’ high-brightness color display, while 5 editing knobs are assigned to as many animated icons on the display itself, giving the sensation of physically shaping each sound. Furthermore, the display can instantly transform into a very useful oscilloscope that graphically visualizes the result of every operation performed.

microKORG 2 BK expands the possibilities of the practical and intuitive sound selection system introduced with microKORG. A dedicated Dial selects the musical genre: Pop/Rock, Funk/Soul, HipHop/R&B, etc., or the general style: Classic, Modern, Future, or User, while 8 dedicated buttons recall the Programs within them.

The new Vocal Processor

One of the most interesting aspects of the original microKORG was its easy-to-use internal Vocoder, supplied with a dedicated microphone and capable of producing the most characteristic sounds of this module. microKORG 2 BK now features a much more powerful new Vocal Processor. In fact, in addition to the Vocoder, this vocal processor can generate Hard Tune correction effects essential for Trap music, for example, or operate as a 4-part vocal harmonizer, with the possibility of further processing the result with reverb and delay effects. Also on microKORG 2 BK, the goose neck microphone is included to immediately project you into memorable vocal performances!

The Loop Recorder and Arpeggiator of microKORG 2 BK

microKORG 2 BK is equipped with a Loop Recorder, a device that allows you to create backing tracks by cyclically overdubbing musical parts. Thanks to this function, microKORG 2 BK is also ideal for Live Performances. The Loop Recorder is simple to use and is controlled by dedicated keys on the panel: Record, Play/Stop, and Undo/Redo; recording and playback settings can be easily modified in the easily accessible dedicated menus. The Loop Recorder makes microKORG 2 BK the ideal partner for expressing one's musical creativity, allowing music to be produced practically anywhere. Naturally, microKORG would not be complete without its easy-to-use and very effective integrated arpeggiator; the Loop Recorder and arpeggiator can be used simultaneously to create dense and musically engaging rhythmic-melodic layers.

The Effects of microKORG 2 BK

KORG has specifically developed three series of high-quality effects for microKORG 2 BK, including nine new types of modulation (with dynamic effects), six types of Delay and reverb. The three series of effects can be activated/deactivated independently, and the wet/dry ratio of each effect can be adjusted separately. The sound is sent to the effects for processing and then to a two-band parametric EQ with bass and treble adjustment, to define the overall character of the sound itself. In this way, with microKORG 2 BK, it is possible to perform complete performances without the need for a mixer or an external effects unit.

The Design of microKORG 2 BK

The iconic design of the original microKORG has been updated with a modern and attractive look. The basic chassis design, the control panel layout, the green silkscreen printing, the knob shape, and other typical features of the Vintage microKORG have been maintained, but the overall aesthetic has been updated to achieve a more modern visual result. The new bright 2.8’’ color display is positioned in the center, while the entire control panel is slightly recessed to improve programming ergonomics. The cabinet is painted with a refined metallic hue, while the side panels are covered with a stone grain black finish. The robust materials and quality finishes ensure the reliability and durability of this instrument.

Easy-to-play Mini Keyboard

On microKORG 2 BK, the distance ratio between the white and black keys has been further improved to make the small keybed even more playable. Even though it has "mini" keys, the microKORG 2 BK keyboard allows for easy playing of fast musical phrases, chords, even with techniques like glissando. The keyboard also has two dedicated buttons for octave shifting (Octave Shift Up/Down), a function that effectively expands its range by three octaves, thus allowing the performer greater expressive possibilities.

Performance on the go

microKORG 2 BK is lightweight and easy to transport, it is 54.2 cm wide and weighs only 2.1 kg (without batteries and microphone). The instrument can be powered via the included AC adapter, or alternatively via six AA batteries, allowing it to be played virtually anywhere.
