KORG's minilogue XD inverted is a new model in this popular series of polyphonic analog synthesizers with integrated multi-engine and DSP effects, re-released in a limited edition with inverted keyboard colors. On the minilogue XD inverted, subtractive analog synthesis is combined with a programmable multi-engine, a DSP effects unit, and an analog-style control panel, giving musicians or producers the opportunity to easily modify or create original, impactful sounds. The minilogue XD inverted is the ideal partner in any live setup or recording studio, a continuous source of inspiration with its original and captivating timbres, and an elegant aesthetic note thanks to its distinctive look.

KORG minilogue XD inverted is a programmable 4-voice analog polyphonic synth, with an analog-style panel for direct parameter access. It features an articulate synthesis structure that combines warm and fat traditional analog timbres with those generated by the Multi Engine and digital effects, while the OLED Display with Oscilloscope guides programming. Another notable aid to creativity comes from the Sequencer: Realtime, Step, Motion, an advanced creative tool capable of creating cinematic and animated sounds.

The minilogue XD inverted is a programmable analog polyphonic synthesizer with 4 voices of polyphony and a synthesis structure composed of: 2VCO + MULTI ENGINE, 1VCF, 2EG, 1VCA, and an LFO; to which are added Wave Shaping for harmonic modeling, Ring & Cross Modulation, Sync between oscillators, a two-pole filter, and Drive which adds more body to the signal sent to the filters. Every parameter has been carefully tuned based on the requests of established musicians. The timbres obtainable from this instrument range from warm Pad sounds, to typical "fat" and present analog bass timbres, to dynamic and penetrating "Lead" solo sounds, practically covering every genre and repertoire need. 500 memory locations, 200 of which are already programmed, allow you to save your own sounds.

In the synthesis structure, a third digital Multi-Engine oscillator is integrated with the two traditional analog VCOs, significantly increasing the timbral versatility of the minilogue XD inverted. The Multi Engine is originally supplied with 3 types of sound generator: Noise, VPM, and a User Slot, capable of generating sounds different from those of analog oscillators. The three sources can, however, be used simultaneously, thus obtaining hybrid timbres with potential yet to be explored.

• Noise Generator: provides 4 types of noise essential for percussive sounds or effects. The digital filter can be used to modify the color of the noise itself.
• VPM oscillator: This internal Multi-Engine oscillator generates sounds using VPM (Variable Phase Modulation)/FM synthesis, with a two-operator structure, 16 types of oscillators directly controllable via the SHAPE knob. It is capable of producing incisive, metallic sounds with a complex harmonic spectrum, well beyond the possibilities of pure analog subtractive synthesis, yet with very intuitive programming.
• User Oscillators: allows you to load other types of Custom oscillators, downloadable from the internet. 16 Slots are available for their placement, while a Morphing Wavetable oscillator is already provided as a Preset.
• High-quality digital effects: The high-quality effects of the minilogue XD inverted are achieved by a powerful 32-bit floating point dedicated DSP, which generates 3 different types of effects: modulation, reverb, and delay, which can also be used simultaneously. You can choose from a wide range of Chorus, Ensemble, Delay, and Reverbs, which add the final touch to every timbre; this section also has Slots for loading Custom effects.

The minilogue XD inverted features a highly customizable development environment. The unit is equipped with 16 Slots for User Oscillators and 16 for User Effects. Custom resources created with the SDK (Software Development Kit), as well as user-created sounds, can be uploaded and managed via the dedicated KORG Software Librarian. What timbres can be created using the subtractive synthesis of traditional analog oscillators combined with digital ones? Each user can create their own original sounds and thus participate in the dedicated international community. It is possible to start with a Sample Code provided by KORG.

The minilogue XD inverted features a polyphonic Step Sequencer with 16 dedicated control keys, supporting Real Time and Step recording. The 16 control keys directly select a Step, quickly modifying its pitch, its Mute status, or even improvising. Motion Sequence precisely memorizes the movements of 4 knobs, allowing for the creation of sounds that evolve over time; both uniform and very sudden variations can be recorded on each Step. This function can be used to create sounds with a distinctly different timbre for each Step, starting from a single Program, such as Percussive Patterns or various sound effects. Motion Sequence is a source of much inspiration in the field of Sound Design.

Joystick: Controls Pitch Bend and Modulation, etc. It can also be assigned to control a selectable parameter on the Y-axis.

Voice mode - 4 different Voice Modes can be selected on the minilogue XD inverted:

• POLY: minilogue XD inverted operates as a 4-voice polyphonic synthesizer.
• UNISON: operates as a synthesizer, with all 4 voices in unison.
• CHORD: chords of up to 4 voices can be played.
• ARP LATCH: (ARP) Activates the arpeggiator, which can also be used when the Sequencer is running/(LATCH) activates or deactivates the LATCH function.

There is also a knob that adjusts the depth of the Voice Mode, applying a different effect for each selected Voice Mode.

• POLY: turning the knob to the right switches to DUO mode and accentuates the Detune.
• UNISON: turning the knob to the right accentuates the Detune.
• CHORD: Selects Mono or Chord Type.
• ARP/LATCH: (ARP) Selects the arpeggiator type.

The minilogue XD inverted has a micro-tuning control function that allows individual adjustment of the pitch of each key. The instrument already has 23 preset tunings, including some created by Aphex Twin and Dorian Concept, and each user can create and store 6 User Scales and 6 User Octaves. It is therefore possible to start by experimenting with the microtonal tunings of famous musicians, and then proceed with creating your own.

The OLED display can show the waveform generated by the minilogue XD inverted thanks to the Oscilloscope function. This visualizes parameter changes in real time, providing valuable visual feedback for programming and understanding the various functions. Finally, the Display can also operate in "Slow Motion" to visualize the phases of a Motion Sequence.

• Stereo Audio Outputs: The instrument's output is stereo, including effects, which adds greater spatiality, depth, and a more realistic placement in the environment to the Synth.
• Damper pedal: At the request of many artists and users, the ability to connect a Damper pedal has been added.
• 2 CV IN inputs: There are two CV IN jacks, with voltage levels of -5V - +5V. In addition to CV/Gate, these can also receive modulation signals (as occurs, for example, by moving the joystick up or down), allowing parameter control via external devices.
