Korg MULTIPOLY-M
Estimated delivery in Italy between 16 and 18 June
KORG multi/poly module offers all the sound and editing features of the multi/poly in a compact 19" format for desktop placement or rack mounting (occupying 4 units). With the same controls as the keyboard model, it fits perfectly into any occasion from studio production to live performance. 4 parts with 4 oscillators each, usable individually or layered, 60 voices of polyphony, and expertly reproduced analog-style filters and behaviors for a concrete sound experience. Plus, support for MIDI 2.0 property exchange and polyphonic aftertouch.
Inspired by the legendary KORG Mono/Poly, KORG's multi/poly analog modeling synthesizer offers extremely credible and impactful analog-style sounds, combined with extraordinary digital processing and editing power that ensures great flexibility in the studio and on stage.
Korg multi/poly Module: Rack-Mount and Desktop
The multi/poly module is intelligently designed to be placed both on a desk and in rack cabinets. The front panel has been redesigned to fit a standard 19" width and a height of 4 units, while the rear panel dedicated to connections is recessed to allow easy access to cables, even with equipment mounted directly above. For desktop setups, the included brackets offer various panel angles, allowing it to be oriented as desired to suit standing performances or for working seated in the studio.
The instrument is fully compatible with the Programs of the multi/poly virtual instrument software and the keyboard version, as well as a growing number of excellent third-party sound libraries. With support for MIDI 2.0 property exchange and polyphonic aftertouch, the module is an excellent complement to Korg's Keystage controller (click here for info/purchase).
Next-Generation Analog Modeling
The multi/poly module features redesigned filters and oscillators with exceptional sound quality – and its advances in analog modeling go far beyond basic classic behavior and signal path. To begin, each voice is equipped with a Virtual Voice Card, whose oscillators, filters, envelopes, LFOs, and portamento circuits model the variations of analog hardware components. The result is that each voice has a slightly different character, creating naturally rich timbres. You can adjust how much variation you want, separately for each sound.
Just like in an analog synthesizer, the voice cards continue to function even if you are not listening to them. Envelopes evolve, so if you play a pad with a long release time, newly played notes "catch" the envelope at its current level instead of starting from scratch. Oscillators and LFOs maintain their phase and resonance continues to vibrate. The pitch of each oscillator can also vary slightly over time, simulating the slight pitch instabilities typically found in analog hardware.
Envelopes are an often-overlooked factor contributing to the unique sounds of vintage synthesizers. The Korg multi/poly module synth includes envelope curvature presets from Mono/Poly, MS-20, "Mini," "Pro," ARP Odyssey, and more. Furthermore, analog VCAs do not respond uniformly to voltage and have different thresholds for turning on and off, all elements that greatly influence the character of the amplifier envelope. Again, in addition to a linear option, we have various presets derived from the emulation of iconic vintage analog instruments.
Have you ever tried to recreate a portamento effect from a favorite song, without being able to find the right setting, even switching between "constant rate" and "constant time"? Even classic analog synthesizers had different approaches to portamento, and for this reason, the multi/poly offers six different portamento models to choose from.
