One of the most attractive elements of the RK series is the beautiful silhouette of its cabinet, which looks decidedly unconventional compared to keyboards. In fact, the material it's made from and its design are more inspired by the world of guitarists, with undeniable and timeless appeal.
On the KORG RK-100S2-BLK, this attention to detail has been further developed, and now the instrument features a finish that highlights the grain of the natural wood used in its construction, making each unit unique with its distinct grain patterns. The care taken in the finishing is also much more akin to guitar craftsmanship than typical electronic instruments, an element that enhances the instrument's distinctive character.
The internal Programs on the KORG RK-100S2-BLK have been significantly expanded, with a particular focus on Lead Synth sounds or other solo sounds that make the musician stand out. Many frequently used sounds in the current music scene have been included, with 200 ready-to-use Presets capable of satisfying all genres and styles. The overall sound of the instrument is dynamic and present; all Presets are immediately accessible during a Live Performance thanks to dedicated FAVORITE buttons on the top panel. The KORG RK-100S2-BLK features a 37-note Slim (thin) keyboard, built without compromise to achieve maximum playability while minimizing the instrument's weight and dimensions.
The KORG RK-100S2-BLK has two ribbon controllers that allow real-time modification of certain sound parameters. The shorter ribbon located in the neck area controls Pitch Bend and modulation, while the longer one positioned in the keyboard area controls Pitch or Filter. This allows the performer to create parameter sweeps, for example, according to their inspiration or the musical needs of the moment. The long ribbon can also control pitch as an alternative to the keyboard, offering significant scope for experimentation or unconventional performances.
The KORG RK-100S2-BLK can be powered by six AA batteries, which guarantee up to 8 hours of continuous operation. Once powered, simply connect the instrument to headphones or a sound system, and you can immediately start playing without worrying about power cables, which is very useful and efficient on a live stage. Of course, if needed, an AC adapter (optional) can also be used.
The Mini Jack input (mono) allows connection of a microphone for Vocoder, which can further characterize a live performance. The input can also be used to connect an external sound source such as a smartphone, to be used as a player for backing tracks.
The KORG RK-100S2-BLK is not limited to playing internal sounds; it features a MIDI OUT port and a USB port, allowing it to be used as a controller for external units such as hardware sound modules or virtual instruments on computers. A PC editor is also available for free download from the KORG website, enabling sophisticated and complete control of all parameters of the RK-100S sound generator.
