KORG VOLCA MIX is a 3-channel analog mixer with an intuitive user interface, small but with extensive connectivity. The first two channels are equipped with a mono input, while the third is stereo. The connectors are mini-jack format to allow direct connection from the headphone output of your Volcas to the inputs of the Volca Mix. For volume control (with an additional 6 dB gain), and thus for mixing the signal played by the Volcas connected to the input, each channel is equipped with a vertical fader. Each channel also features a "Mute" button and a low-pass/high-pass filter controllable by a single potentiometer: low-pass when rotated to the left, high-pass when rotated to the right. A natural-sounding filter that allows you to intervene on the sound character of the connected sources.
The output section includes a stereo line output on RCA connectors and a mini-jack headphone output with volume controllable by a single potentiometer. The Master signal can be visually monitored by a 4-LED stereo VU Meter. Two speakers, located in the lower corners of the panel, allow direct stereo listening to enable you to work on the go; despite their extremely compact size, these are capable of greater sound power compared to those integrated into the Volca series synths. A dedicated switch allows you to deactivate them if necessary.
On the master channel of the KORG VOLCA MIX, we have a powerful effects section entirely based on analog circuitry. In addition to an expander (controllable by the Width potentiometer), which widens the image of mono sources in the stereo field, the KORG VOLCA MIX features a dynamic compressor that, behaving like the classic ducking effect applicable via side chain, compresses high frequencies in relation to level changes in the low range. An essential effect in electronic dance music production, which allows for significant variations in mixing, adding an extra touch of professionalism to your live performances with the Volca series.
KORG VOLCA MIX has a Send output (mono) and an Aux input on stereo mini-jack (TRS) connectors. Thanks to the Send potentiometers on the three channels, you can send the signal from the sources connected to the Volca Mix to the input of an external multi-effect connected to the Send output. For example, using it with the Korg mini kaoss pad 2S, you can benefit from reverb, delay, filter, and break effects. If necessary, the Aux input can be used to connect a possible fourth Volca, or a smartphone – to integrate iOS music apps into your setup – or for any other line source.
KORG VOLCA MIX offers an analog BPM speed synchronization section consisting of a Sync mini-jack output that transmits sync pulses to other Volcas according to the settings applied via the Tempo potentiometer. A Play button allows you to manage the start, i.e., remote playback of the various synchronized units.
Finally, the three "Volca DC" outputs on the KORG VOLCA MIX allow you to power as many instruments in the series, connectable via the special "DC-DC" cables included in the package; you won't need to use numerous adapters or power strips.
