In 2020, the acclaimed wavestate took the combination of Wave Sequencing 2.0 and Vector synthesis to the next level. Equipped with a radically redesigned waveform sequencer, the wavestate offers surprising, ever-evolving sounds, with extremely detailed manual control. Far from being a mere nostalgic reissue of the Wavestation, the wavestate has been re-engineered from the ground up for a new generation of musicians, producers, and composers, drawing inspiration from diverse sources such as modular synthesizers, groove boxes, and algorithmic composition.
120 voices of polyphony, updated LFOs, and more
Taking full advantage of a new chassis design and new hardware processor, the wavestate module offers an impressive 120 voices of stereo polyphony. The new hardware has a 4-rack unit footprint, the same controls as the keyboard models, but is easily transportable and fits perfectly into any studio production system, console, or live setup.
Listening to user requests, we have also updated all LFOs with options for free run, delayed start, and retriggering, added new modulation sources, and more. The wavestate module is fully compatible with sounds and samples from the original wavestate, wavestate mk II, wavestate SE, and the wavestate native software, as well as numerous third-party libraries sold online.
MIDI 2.0 Support and Polyphonic Aftertouch
With the latest software updates, all wavestate models, hardware and software, now support MIDI 2.0 Property Exchange. Hundreds of the original factory sounds have been updated to include modulation via Polyphonic Aftertouch (including Channel Aftertouch). All of this makes the wavestate module a perfect companion for KORG's Keystage controller.
Rack and Desktop Mounting
The wavestate module is intelligently designed for both desktop and rack (4 units) use. The front panel has been redesigned to fit a standard 19" width, while the rear panel of connectors has been recessed to allow easy cable access. Many musicians requested a module version of the wavestate, and now that components are again available after a long period of supply chain disruptions, KORG is thrilled to make that request a reality.
