M-AUDIO HAMMER 88 PRO is an 88-key USB MIDI keyboard with graded hammer action, smart controls, and automatic mapping.
Thanks to the OLED screen positioned front and center, it's easier than ever to search and test sounds, map controls, and mix and edit your sessions. The M-AUDIO HAMMER 88 PRO can control any DAW and automatically map commonly used functions such as Transport, Fader, Pan controls, and much more.
The M-AUDIO HAMMER 88 PRO features M-Audio's brand new Smart Chord and Smart Scale technologies. With Smart Chord enabled, pressing a single key or pad will play a full chord instead of just one note. The key or pad pressed will determine the root note in the chord. The other properties of the chord (major, minor, etc.) are determined by the chosen settings. Smart Chord also has a custom mode that allows you to determine the chord structure that will be assigned to each key by playing it manually. For example, if you select custom mode and play a 1-b3-5-b7 chord, each key will be assigned to play this chord structure. The note of the pressed key will act as the root of the chord, and all parameters can be adjusted directly on the Hammer 88 Pro. Smart Scale technology allows you to set the keyboard so that only notes in the selected scale can be played. This allows you to play within a chosen scale without the risk of playing "wrong" notes. You can choose from 16 different scale variations when assigning a scale to the keyboard.
The Note Repeat function allows you to hold down any of the custom M-Audio performance pads and hear a rhythmic pattern repeated with a selectable note division. The Note Repeat function can be activated momentarily or can be used in Latch mode. By choosing Momentary and holding down the Note Repeat button, the note played by the pad will automatically repeat. By choosing Latch, pressing any pad will cause the assigned note to repeat without having to hold down the Note Repeat button.
The built-in arpeggiator makes the pressed keys play repeatedly in sequence. The arpeggiator's tempo and rhythm are based on the keyboard's time division setting and the keyboard's or DAW's tempo setting.
The M-AUDIO HAMMER 88 PRO also features Channel Aftertouch, which allows you to influence the sound of a virtual instrument plugin by continuously scanning the pressure applied to any key after initially pressing it.
