Keyless Synthesizer
For over 60 years, the Moog theremin has captured the imagination and commanded the attention of musicians and audiences alike. More recently, over the past two decades, the Moog Etherwave Standard and Etherwave Plus have redefined the standard for performance in design. Now, the best-selling theremin models of all time are being refined with a substantial upgrade, becoming simply: MOOG MUSIC ETHERWAVE THEREMIN.
With no keys to press and no strings to pluck, the MOOG MUSIC ETHERWAVE THEREMIN has always challenged all the prerogatives of a musical instrument. One of the first electronic instruments ever made, it has earned its place in over a century of history by being played in a way that seems to evoke music from the ether, simply through the movement of the body as it approaches the instrument.
Combining the typical playability of an analog instrument with an unprecedented range of sound options, the MOOG MUSIC ETHERWAVE THEREMIN offers an accurate five-octave range with extremely balanced note spacing.
The most advanced and updated analog electronic components have been used to create Bob Moog's classic theremin circuit, further improving performance, especially in the low-frequency range. The hand-finished wooden cabinet integrates the two traditional brass-plated antennas, as well as the input and output connections, all located on the rear panel. The microphone stand adapter ensures quick setup. Easily accessible front panel controls allow for quick timbre variations, and antenna calibration can be done simply and immediately. The I/O features are completed by a front panel headphone output with volume control and a convenient Mute button.
The MOOG MUSIC ETHERWAVE THEREMIN naturally has all the characteristics and functionalities of a normal Theremin with, in addition, the possibility of being used as a stand-alone CV controller to control external synthesizers and effects. The control signals of the CV outputs are proportional to the pitch and volume of the Theremin's audio signal, and it is possible to connect the MOOG MUSIC ETHERWAVE THEREMIN to the pitch or volume CV inputs of a Subsequent 37 or other analog synths for a completely new way of playing the synthesizer or effects.
