The Timmy Overdrive is based on a design by veteran Paul Cochrane, widely appreciated by professionals from Nashville musician Kenny Greenberg to Los Angeles musician Lyle Workman to rock star Brad Whitford. When Paul decided to bring his pedal to a wider audience, he chose to work with the MXR design team. "It's an honor to be able to work with MXR," says Paul. "My very first pedal was a Phase 90." Thanks to Paul's inventiveness in implementing clipping options and tone controls, the Timmy Overdrive is the overdrive pedal suitable for all guitarists. The Clip switch offers three different clipping styles, ranging from a big sound with plenty of headroom to a more compressed and saturated overdrive. The Bass and Treble knobs cut frequencies without boosting them: this preserves the natural timbre of the instrument while adding a clean boost. In addition, the bass control is wired to affect the pre-overdrive signal, so you can maintain a lower gain on the lows, while the treble control is set to act on the overdrive signal. All in a compact format that fits even the smallest pedalboards.
