Billie Joe Armstrong's guitar sound on Dookie, Green Day's groundbreaking 1994 album, was dirty and punchy, with just the right amount of articulation to express the musicality of his fast, melodic riffs. To achieve this sound, he ran his signal through two heavily modified amplifiers, one with high gain and the other with well-defined mids. When it came time to mix the record, the band blended the two signals in different ratios to suit the mood of each track. The MXR Dookie Drive captures the sonorities of these amplifiers in a single pedal. The MXR team borrowed his amplifiers and analyzed all their sonic characteristics. After several analyses and A/B tests, MXR engineers rebuilt the amplifiers from scratch in pedal circuit form and housed them in a single enclosure, creating the Dookie Drive. As Green Day did in the studio, the BLEND control allows you to mix the high gain and crunch sections. The SCOOP button cuts the mids, while the other controls adjust volume, gain, and tone.
For the 30th anniversary of their historic Dookie album, the Dookie Drive comes in this Deluxe Edition with a new finish.
