OVERVIEW OF THE MXR EVHMHG EVH MODERN HIGH GAIN PEDAL
This pedal, the result of a collaboration between the MXR development team and Eddie Van Halen dating back to 2015, recreates in pedal format the typical EVH high gain sound that characterized his career. The OUTPUT and GAIN knobs allow you to balance the output volume and saturation, allowing even the heaviest riffs to maintain definition. The BASS, MID, and TREBLE controls precisely shape the sound's character. The BOOST switch increases gain to make solos stand out. The 55 Hz/80 Hz switch allows you to make the low frequencies fuller or more incisive, choosing the bass cut managed by the BASS knob. To maximize clarity even with OUTPUT and GAIN at maximum, the NOISE GATE control manages the background noise of the signal.
CONTROLS OF THE MXR EVHMHG MODERN HIGH GAIN PEDAL
GATE: activates the noise gate (the knob illuminates blue when active) and sets the gate threshold
OUTPUT: adjusts the overall volume of the effect
BASS: adjusts the low frequencies
BASS SHIFT: selects the low frequency cut, managed by the BASS knob. Setting it to 80 Hz results in a tighter low end, while 55 Hz provides robust lows
MID: adjusts the mid frequencies
TREBLE: adjusts the high frequencies
BOOST: adds input gain for more intense saturation, but also in the final gain stage for extra uncompressed clipping and a volume increase. With the GAIN knob set to low levels, it adds clarity and punch. At higher levels, it adds rich sustain
FOOTSWITCH: activates and bypasses the pedal (the red LED indicates it is active)
